Downtown Portland

How The Game Works:

Waldo and his friends Wenda, The Wizard, and Odlaw will be wandering around downtown. Your job is to find them!

You will be given clues to help you find Waldo and the others, plus a checklist of items to find, just like in the books.

Watch out for fake Waldos!

What Time?

Please come between 11 AM and 2 PM

Stick around for our giant Where's Waldo group picture on the steps of Pioneer Square at 2 PM. Wear red or white attire to make it harder to find the real Waldo in the picture!

Where To Start:

Check in at the red and white striped booth at Pioneer Square (corner of 6th Ave and Morrison).

Everyone will get an information sheet about the game, including a street map showing the 9x9 block area that Waldo can be in, clues to help you, and a checklist of items to find.

How To Win:

You win by taking a picture of you (or your group) with Waldo. There will be some small prizes for the winners, and a special prize if you find all the items on the checklist.

Remember to obey the street signals and wait for cars, buses, and Max trains!

DO NOT RUN!

Suggested Ages: All Ages are welcome!

Cost to Play: $5 per person (children under 3 are free).

The proceeds will go to Portland Public Schools.

We'll also accept additional donations for Portland Public Schools. Feel free to donate more than $5.

What Players Should Bring:

- Please bring cash or check

- Bring a water bottle and sunscreen, or a jacket and umbrella if it's raining

- We recommend you bring a digital camera, instant camera, or cell phone with a camera to take a picture of you with Waldo.

Be a fake waldo!

Just wear red and white striped attire (shirt, hat, scarf, umbrella, etc) and walk around downtown to make it harder to find the real Waldo! Come to the booth to donate to PPS and get a map of the playing area.

Also join us at 2 PM to be in our giant Where's Waldo group picture on the steps of Pioneer Square.

Bring your own fake Waldo attire!

Feel free to bring and wear red and white striped attire (shirts, hats, scarfs, umbrellas) plus Waldo canes and glasses.

You can also make your own red and white striped shirt! Just get a white shirt and use red duct tape to make stripes. Here is a great video demonstrating how to make a striped shirt with duct tape: http://vimeo.com/4244744.

You can also find some round Waldo or Harry Potter glasses, or a cane with a round handle on it from thrift stores, or online.

Parking

We recommend riding the max to Pioneer Square to avoid paying for parking. The closest parking garages are the Smart Parks on 4th x Yamhill, another on 4th x Morrison, and another on 10th x Yamhill.

Like us on Facebook to be in the loop for the event each year, and post your pictures!
